an update and some emus

My camera has been out of commission for over a month now because the charger stopped working... So I have no pictures of the past month to share with you, unfortunately. I just sent it in to get it fixed, so hopefully my brand new toy will soon be back and all charged and ready to take some pictures!
Just got a package from home today...cookies!!!! And a few other goodies too that I really love. Thank youuuu Mom and Dad!

Above are some of the first character design drawings I did this year--the rough sketches were accepted a little better than the final drawings. I was all inspired by Carter Goodrich. His designs are so cool!! These are really the only things I have scanned right now. Maybe I'll do some more this week too...gotta keep up with that so the amount of work to be scanned doesn't pile up at the end of the year!

Okay...so I'm trying to think of what to write about... I think the main thing is that time is going by very quickly already, and it's nearly Halloween. This year has been good so far. Good, but not the same as last year. I definitely know how to manage my sleeping habits better this year, which has been great...but then, that was such a new, exciting part of coming to college last year! It was the late nights when everyone was tired and hungry but we had so much fun anyway. Then again, struggling to stay awake the next day is not something I miss. So I'm glad I can go to sleep before 2 now, but with that I'm going to have to sacrifice the jokes and stories that come with staying up late.
It sort of feels like we got off on the wrong foot this year, unfortunately, because one of our main classes (like, the most important one) has sort of been a struggle. It's a challenge to stay in class because of the teaching method. It's no fun when we come here for animation and that's the one class we dread. Things will get better though. We'll pull through!
Anyway, life is grand, school is tough but it's still the best thing ever. Class starts in 20 minutes so I should probably go get ready. Have a lovely evening!

One of my last pictures taken before camera hibernation. Sunset outside Mimi's Cafe.

  1. Well, I'm kinda glad the novelty of sleep deprivation has worn off.

I'm proud of you and your fellow students for taking a stand.

  2. cute emus, amelia! :)
I know what you mean about sleep and class though. Second year's really different from first year. But then again, it seems like every year has been really different. I think that's also what I took away from first year, is the importance of sleep! (but now I'm very greedy with sleep.)
